TAS State Chair of the Rural Women's Award Alumni

Submissions closed at 5:00PM 6 March 2023 (AEDT).

Applications are now open and will close on Monday, 6 March 2023 at 5pm (AEDT).

The successful applicant will be announced via an email to Alumni and post to the RWA Alumni closed Facebook group in March.

What is the Alumni Committee of State Chairs?

The TAS State Chair will be selected by applying through an online application process. Once they are selected, they will be responsible for working with their own small State Committee, made up of Alumni volunteers.

The TAS State Chair will work collaboratively with each of the relevant state/territory agencies.

Please note: You do not have to be TAS Alumni to apply. However, you do need to be living in Tasmania now.

What are the roles and responsibilities of the Alumni State Chairs?

  • Sit on the state/territory selection panel each year to work alongside applicants and provide support along the way.
  • Promote the Award and new Alumni initiatives.
  • Promote the Rural Women’s Acceleration Grant.
  • Drive connections within the Alumni and with other women’s focused programs in each state/territory.
  • Help with fostering connections across Award Alumni in their state/territory.
  • Help facilitate and organise events for Alumni in their specific state/territory.
  • Live and promote program values.

What budget will I have to do this?

Each Rural Women’s Award Committee of State Chairs will be allocated approximately $5,000 in project funds to run learning & development events, workshops, meetings etc. A quarterly plan of how Committees wish to spend this budget needs to be submitted (with itemised costs) and approved by AgriFutures. AgriFutures may increase this amount over time.

What is the time commitment?

  • The tenure for each State Chair will be three years.
  • State Chairs will be expected to attend Committee meetings, Alumni events, selection panel interviews and State/Territory Announcement.
  • State Chairs will also undertake general duties to fulfil the roles and responsibilities.

How will I be remunerated?

Each State Chair will be renumerated with a flat fee of $9,375 + GST per year (paid quarterly) to carry out the roles and responsibilities and for their attendance at the meetings and events. In addition, each State Chair will be required to submit a quarterly activity report. Quarterly activity reports must be submitted before payments will be released.

We envisage this will be approximately 6 hours per month in time commitment, per State Chair.

What travel will be involved?

AgriFutures will cover your travel (fuel, car hire, flights, accommodation, and meals) up to an amount of $2,500 per year to:

  • Attend face to face commitments as part of the selection panel including interviews
  • Attend State/Territory Announcement
  • Attend the face to face half day Committee meetings
  • Attend four local Alumni catch ups annually (that have been organised by the State Chair)

Please note: AgriFutures will not reimburse for travel time.

What are we looking for?

  • Each State Chair must be a Rural Women’s Award Alumni
  • Have capacity to engage with their state/territory government and Rural Women’s Award partner organisations and value add to selection panels and awards ceremonies.
  • Have the capacity to build a vibrant local Alumni cohort.
  • Someone who sets the bar in terms of behaviours and values.

What is the selection criteria?

In the application form, there are questions around your impact, commitment, and future vision for Alumni at a state/territory level, as well as an endorsement from two Alumni peers.

  1. Impact
  2. Commitment
  3. Future vision
  4. Endorsement from two Alumni members from your state/territory.

Previous Rural Women’s Award Alumni Advisory Panel Members are ineligible to apply for a Rural Women’s Award Alumni State Chair position.

If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.

Hint: also check the email hasn't landed in your spam or junk email folder.

ATTACHMENTS AND SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

You may need to upload/submit attachments to support your application. This is very simple, but requires you to have the documents saved on your computer, or on a storage device.

You need to allow enough time for each file to upload before trying to attach another file. Files can be up to 25MB each; however, we do recommend trying to keep files to a maximum of 5MB – the larger the file, the longer the upload time.
